CRIS CYBORG TALKING TO UFC ABOUT NEW DEAL

Former UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is currently in discussions with the world’s leading MMA advertising about a new contract, according to her agent Audie Attar, who spoke to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani on his MMA show. Cyborg has one fight left her contract after her shocking KO loss to Amanda Nunes in UFC 232, however her and her representatives have been clear with the UFC they are interested in a reunion.
In accordance with Attar, Cyborg expects to fight at UFC 237, which takes place this May at Curitiba, Brazil. The main event of this event will be headlined by UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas carrying on No. 1 contender Jessica Andrade, also it makes a great deal of sense to pump up the undercard using a fighter of Cyborg’s fame and name value, especially in Brazil. If Cyborg does struggle at UFC 237, that will be the final fight on her contract, even as he’s only one fight left on it with no winner’s clause because of losing the buckle.
The UFC would be smart to bring back Cyborg on a new thing. She has proven to be a small pay-per-view draw in some time when the UFC wants fighters who sell displays, and although she won’t be cheap to re-sign, she’s shown to be worth the money. So far as women’s fighters proceed, there aren’t many more exciting fighters compared to Cyborg and there sure are not many with considerably more name worth than she’s. The UFC absolutely should re-sign her as long as the request is appropriate.
Although it would be wonderful to view Cyborg get a rematch with Nunes seeing like she had been on a 13-year win streak before losing her belt in mad fashion, it is very unlikely Nunes would take this struggle. The rumor is that Nunes would like to battle Holly Holm alongside for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship, which will leave Cyborg without a upcoming logical competitor. There aren’t too many featherweights from the UFC right now, but both that do stand out are Megan Anderson and Cat Zingano. Anderson just beat Zingano in contentious fashion following a flea sliced her attention and the fight was stopped in the first round at UFC 232, but Anderson did catch her hand raised. If the UFC wanted to do Cyborg from Anderson in Brazil, that’s a struggle that produces a lot of sense.
Cyborg will fight that last fight of her contract, but in the case she does enter free service, she will have a lot of suitors. Evidently, Bellator would require a run at her ex-Strikeforce promoter Scott Coker is in control of the company. But I would suspect RIZIN and ONE would likewise take a run at her, and of course that the WWE, Golden Boy MMA as well as some boxing promotions. Basically, Cyborg will have tons of options to select from. However, if her agent is being sincere, she would like to come back to the UFC, and it would be excellent to get MMA fans if that’s what happens.
